Original product description

This 5A zeolite molecular sieve is a light-gray adsorbent and chemical desiccant with a nominal pore diameter of 5 angstroms. It is available in spherical and pellet forms for industrial drying and adsorption-separation processes.

Supported applications include removing water, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and light mercaptans from sour natural-gas streams;separating normal and isoparaffins;producing high-purity nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and inert gases from mixed gas streams;and static dehydration of air-filled or gas-filled insulating-glass units.

The product is also specified for pressure swing adsorption systems. Available sphere diameters are 1.7–2.5 mm and 3.0–5.0 mm. Pellet diameters are 1.6 mm and 3.2 mm. All listed grades have static water adsorption of at least 22%, wear ratio of no more than 0.20%, and water content of no more than 1.0%.

Depending on form and size, specified bulk density ranges from at least 0.66 to 0.72 g/ml, crushing strength ranges from at least 40 to 100 N per piece, and size conformity ranges from at least 96% to 98%.

Regeneration may be performed by heating in thermal-swing service or by reducing pressure in pressure-swing service. The stated temperature for moisture removal is 250–300°C.

Storage and handling should prevent moisture exposure and pre-adsorption of organic substances before operation;material exposed before use may require reactivation.
