Original product description

This Type 5A zeolite molecular sieve is the calcium form of the Type A crystal structure. Its effective pore opening is 5 angstroms (0.5 nm), allowing it to adsorb molecules with kinetic diameters below 5 angstroms while excluding larger molecules.

The listed 3–5 mm spherical grade has a size ratio of at least 96%, bulk density of at least 0.70 g/ml, wear ratio of no more than 0.10%, crushing strength of at least 70 N per particle, static water adsorption of at least 27%, static CO2 adsorption of at least 18.5 NL/g, and as-shipped water content of no more than 1.5%.

Supported uses include pressure-swing adsorption, hydrogen purification, oxygen concentrators, separation of normal and iso-paraffins, and production of high-purity nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and inert gases from mixed gas streams.

The material is also described for adsorbing water, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and light mercaptans from sour natural-gas streams while minimizing COS formation. The molecular sieve can be regenerated by heating in thermal-swing processes or by reducing pressure in pressure-swing processes.

Removing moisture by thermal regeneration requires a stated temperature of 250–300°C. Performance after regeneration and pressure-swing outlet concentrations depend on the gas composition and operating conditions.
